mixer bass eq

Postby onedeath on Mon Oct 09, 2006 3:51 am

Hi, I have the pio djm-300 (wish i had gotten something better but stuck with this for now)... I notice that the bass eq knobs take out a little to much mid-range. Taking down the bass also takes down a significant amount of the melody on some trance songs. Is there a way to adjust the rolloff? I imagine there is some variation between mixers/manu regarding what is considered the bass frequencies... is there a mixer I could buy that would let me tweak with that? Thanks!

EDIT: According to the djm manual, the bass eq cuts off at 70Hz. I have used acid pro 5 in the past to make mixes, and the bass eq in that program has a default setting of 100hz. when i take the same song and cut out the bass, there is clearly a LOT more taken out by the mixer... is there something wrong with it?

Nope, there is nothing wrong with it..That's just how the mixer is! If it is a big problem, buy another mixer with better EQ controls...Its gonna cost you more, but the mixer you have now is doing what it is supposed to do...

YOUR BEST BET IS TO FORGET THE TONE CONTROLS ON THE MIXER.SOUND PROCESSING SHOULD BE DONE WITH A SOUND PROCESSER. EQ, CROSSOVER, ETC. I HAVE A DJM500 AND THE TONE KNOBS ARE ALL SET TO ZERO. I TWEAK THE SOUND WITH A DOD EQ AND A TWO WAY CROSSOVER. FOR THE BEST SOUND I RECCOMEND A MULTI AMP SYSTEM SEPARATING THE HIGHS AND MIDS FROM THE LOWS.THIS MAKES IT EASIER TO SCULPT YOUR SOUND.
