He is back with Amanda Latona Way back before BSB, AJ was just another overachiever actor/singer cruising his adopted city of Orlando with his manager mom. But boy, was he destined for the sweet smell of success. After just one week in O-town, junior high school student AJ beat out hundreds of other kids for a role on a Nickelodeon show-and that was just the beginning. Yup, before bonding with the rest of Backstreet, this enthusiastic entertainer appeared in some 70 plays, including the classics "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" and "Fiddler on the Roof." Since he was so busy, AJ mostly studied with tutors, though he did go to public school in Orlando for a bit. "I grew up in musical theater. It's what I've always wanted to do, and I've always pushed myself. If, God forbid, something happened to me where I could not perform, I would rather die, basically."It's obvious that AJ views his bad as a canvas on which to create art. But his skin-deep creative side doesn't stop there. He loves to dye his hair weird colors and shape his goatee into cool patterns, though it takes him almost a half hour every day to do so. AJ's also a sophistic who likes to lead the rest of the guys in the trends by scoring the coolest clothes-his hat collection alone is inspiration enough. Basically, AJ admits that it's his hobby to come up with outrageous and original stuff to wear on the street and on stage.

Though all the Boys dig attention, no one loves to be at the center of it more than AJ. "I'm a big ham and I gotta be out there doing crazy stuff for no apparent reason, especially on stage."
